TDC makes key appointments


Building on the continuous growth experienced over the past two decades, TDC has recently made a number of strategic appointments of key personnel. These highly skilled staff will complement our existing team and expand the scope of our technical capabilities. The new appointments are as follows:

John Stephen

Key industry professional, John Stephen recently joined TDC as Electrical Services General Manager. John brings over 37 years of extensive electrical engineering experience to his new role, with particular emphasis on Hazardous Area Certified Ex electrical installation and maintenance management in the oil and gas industry. His prior leadership experience with a global electro-mechanical engineering company as Assistant Branch Manager in Aberdeen, will contribute towards TDC effectively building its market share for the provision of specialist electrical engineering services for this sector.


TDC’s Managing Director, Neil Milne, commented “John has tremendous knowledge and understanding of the industry which will undoubtedly serve TDC well. He brings a wealth of relevant industry senior management experience, not only in terms of his accomplished technical knowledge, but also in the key areas of leadership and organisational development. Such expertise will be invaluable to us as part of the company’s approach to increase its market share and influence our strategic development.”

 

Colin Harrold

Colin Harrold started his career over 20 years ago focusing on electrical installation, verification and design. Colin has joined TDC as Electrical Services Manager, where his wealth of experience and knowledge, predominately in the oil and gas sector, extends across a wide range of Hazardous Area electrical equipment. This encompasses installation, inspection and maintenance work scopes. Having previously held supervisory roles, as well as gaining vast hands on practical experience, Colin adds significant value to the TDC team. Within this role Colin is also responsible for overseeing the safety, integrity, technical standard and quality of electrical installation work completed, in his capacity as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor.


Previously, Colin has worked on nuclear installations, the maintenance of process plant and all types of certified equipment including, hydraulic power units, nitrogen convertors, A60 cabins, and offshore workshop containers.



 

George Sinclair

Experienced principal verification and electrical project engineer, George Sinclair has joined TDC as Electrical Engineering Project Manager. George has over 40 years’ electrical engineering experience of Hazardous Area equipment and verification. With significant knowledge of Ex certification design appraisal and review, he is considered one of the most exceptionally qualified engineers in this field.

With previous roles as E&I Project Engineer at a global electrical and mechanical engineering organisation, and E&I Principal Verification Engineer at Bureau Veritas, George demonstrates an unrivalled wealth of professional expertise, commercial awareness and integrity. A former licenced assessor at ASET International Oil & Gas Training Academy, his impressive technical knowledge within the industry is held in high regard. In addition to general day to-day project management duties, George will also assist the TDC team to effectively deliver specialist HV/MV/LV cable jointing and terminating services.

He brings an accomplished level of technical knowledge and experience to our company which will benefit clients and employees alike. We now have a remarkable team in place which is well positioned to serve the industry for the future.”


TDC has signalled its continued growth and development of its Condition Monitoring Division through the appointment of new personnel, as well as an increase in the range of innovative services provided.


These changes further strengthen TDC’s ability to meet the demands of clients in a changing cost sensitive oil and gas industry.

 

Stephen Elliott

TDC’s recent recruitment of Stephen Elliott in the position of Condition Monitoring Manager brings over 30 years’ experience in Electrical Condition Monitoring, Power & Control and Technical Support.

 

Abhijit Joshi

Abhijit Joshi (MPhil) joins TDC with 12 years’ experience in Electrical Condition Monitoring specialising in Partial Discharge Signal Analysis and development.


 

A further two additional experienced Field Engineers have increased the existing team providing specialist Electrical Condition Monitoring services to optimise maintenance activities. These services include Stator Insulation Monitoring Systems (PD), Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA), Protection Relay Testing, Circuit Breaker/Injection Testing and Thermographic Surveys.


PD Analysis is an effective method to detect Stator winding faults such as Insulation degradation and breakdown. MCSA is an established method to detect broken rotor bars or high resistance joints in induction machines. These tests are non-intrusive and are performed during normal operation conditions with no loss of production. The latest innovation is the inhouse development of a new portable PD system to monitor HV machine insulation systems.

 

Kenny Pirie

Kenny Pirie has recently returned to TDC as Electrical and Mechanical Project Supervisor. Kenny previously held the Engineering Manager position within TDC, before moving on to work with major drilling contractors and operators on international projects, where he gained vast experience in all aspects of rig upgrade, repair and new build projects. He is a dynamic and highly-skilled team player with significant leadership and project management experience, with a proven record for adding value both in terms of financial contribution and company reputation. Kenny will assist TDC in developing the company’s Oilfield Support Services, working in conjunction with major drilling contractors and operators.

 

Wayne Shinnie

Wayne has joined TDC as Product Sales Manager and has extensive experience in the supply of a wide range of electrical and mechanical products, gained through working in similar roles for nearly 30 years. He has particular specialism and knowledge on the specification and supply of hazardous area, industrial and marine electric motors, and associated control gear from leading brands such as ABB, Siemens and Brook Crompton.

 

Helen Little

Helen has taken up the position of Purchasing Co-ordinator, and brings a wealth of knowledge from over 15 years’ experience in the electrical and mechanical industry in a purchasing and expediting role.

 

Commenting on the appointments, Managing Director, Neil Milne said “We are delighted to have Wayne and Helen on board to develop our electrical and mechanical products supply division. I am certain that their focus and experience in supply chain management and sourcing will benefit our customers directly”.

 

George Anderson

TDC has recently appointed George (Dod) Anderson as Sales Manager, to drive sales activities within the company’s expanding service base. George’s career spans over 40 years in the international oil and gas sector, in roles which have included senior management positions. During this period he has gained extensive sales, marketing and business development experience, as well as vast knowledge in a range of electrical and mechanical disciplines.

 

Colin Nicol

Colin Nicol who has joined TDC in the position of Sales Engineer. Colin has over 25 years’ experience of working in sales and key account manager roles, for electro-mechanical service groups within the energy industry.

 

George and Colin have both joined TDC after previously holding sales positions within a global electrical and mechanical engineering company in Aberdeen, and have extensive contacts in the industry, which will assist in TDC’s further expansion, with particular focus on developing and managing customer relationships.
